About this project
What am I doing and why?
I am researching the importance of Polish grocery stores to Polish immigrant communities. I chose to focus on Polka European Deli, a Polish-owned and operated supermarket that has been in business for over 20 years. It is located at Markham Rd and Lawrence Ave. I analyzed why the deli is important to Polish immigrants in the GTA and I wanted to find out who goes to this specific grocery store. I wanted to know if it had a strictly Polish clientele or if there were other customers. Click the who and why tab above to find out more.
Frozen Foods
Polka European Deli also has a selection of frozen goods including these pierogies produced in Mississauga. There are cheddar & potato pierogies in addition to sauerkraut & mushroom ones.
Fresh Produce
There are a variety of fresh meats and cheeses produced in the Greater Toronto Area for Polka European Deli. Breads and pastries are baked fresh in Toronto.
